Spring Bedspread Pattern
This is fabulous statement bedspread! A modern twist on a 1970s classic, it is absolutely stunning, super warm and will last generations. Unlike its 1970s counterparts, our Spring Bedspread is made of the softest, ethically sourced superfine merino and baby alpaca mix of Plump DK so you can be happy that you are not adding to the plastics problem for generations to come! It is simply made from lots of granny squares. Once you have got the hang of the flowers in the centre, this is very simple and fun to make.
You can of course make this as large or small as you like, one square would look great as a cushion cover! You can change the colours or use different quantites by looking at Plump DK. The full blanket uses 33 skeins of Plump DK in the following colours:
Pavlova (MC) x 15 skeins
Darjeeling (CC1) 3 skeins
One skein of each of the following contrast colour (*as Marshmallow is in two colourways, you need two skeins of this)
A) Pinks – Fondant Fancy (CC2), Marshmallow* (CC3), Rhubarb Crumble (CC4)
B) Blues – Peppermint (CC5), Bon Bon (CC6), Sugared Almond (CC7)
C) Greens – Pistachio (CC8), Gooseberry (CC9), Angelica (CC10)
D) Brights – Lemon Curd (CC11), Marmalade (CC12), Marshmallow* (CC3)
E) Reds – Damson Jam (CC13), Cherry Pie (CC14), Earl Grey (CC15)
Finished Measurements: 145cm x 160cm (57” x 63”)
You will also need a 4.5mm crochet hook
Pattern Kit: You'll find the kit which includes all the yarn you'll need and the pattern, packaged in a kraft envelope here
Washing
Plump Superchunky and Plump DK are made from the highest quality superfine merino and baby alpaca. These really are special and luxurious fibres and should be treated carefully! Having said that both yarns are suitable for delicate hand washing. Use a specialist detergent and do not agitate or twist the fibres to retain the gorgeous softness and shape of your garment.
Shedding
Because of the roving nature of our yarns (they are single ply, rather than tightly twisted), some shedding may occur. The best way to deal with this is spray your finished garment with water and leave to dry flat, naturally before the first wearing. This sets the fibres and should stop any problems. If you want any further advice just drop us a line at [email protected]
Using your yarn
All our yarn comes in skeins. Before using you need to wind the skein into a ball or you will get into an awful tangled mess! If you are not sure how to do this you can watch our video here!
