Cropped Cardigan

£4.50

A cropped cardigan is my absolute go-to wardrobe staple and is surely one of the most useful things you can make?! This version is super soft and super warm making it even more perfect! I’ve used Fluff for the button band and neck to make these a less obvious part of the cardy, but you can just follow the same instructions continuing with the main yarn if you prefer. A contrast colour might be nice though?!

Sizes: XS (S, M, L, XL)

Finished measurements:

Chest: 81 (89, 95, 105, 117) cm   32 (35, 37 1⁄2 , 41, 46)”

You will need:

6 (6, 7, 7, 8) skeins Plump dk (shown in Rhubarb Crumble)

1 ball Fluff or any fine silk mohair, (shown in Rhubarb Crumble)

4.5mm circular needle (at least 60cm)

3.75mm circular needle (at least 60cm)

3.5mm circular needle (at least 60cm)

8 x 1cm buttons

Stitch markers

Stitch holders

Plump dk is a pretty standard doubleknit or light worsted weight yarn.   We have used it for straight double knit projects as well as projects specifying an aran weight yarn and found it works well for both.  Any needle size from 3.75mm to 4.5mm is great.

Ballband Tension (gauge):
Using a 4mm needle over stocking stitch: 22 sts to 10cm and 30 rows.

We really recommend not getting too stressed about exact tensions.  Everyone knits differently and your knitting tension can even change with your mood!  If you have found a yarn you really like and it's in the right ball park, why not buy a ball and give it a go?  Try a slightly different needle size if you are way off the right tension.  If you are putting all the effort into knitting then best to use a yarn you love!

Washing
Plump Superchunky and Plump DK are made from the highest quality superfine merino and baby alpaca.  These really are special and luxurious fibres and should be treated carefully!  Having said that both yarns are suitable for delicate hand washing.  Use a specialist detergent and do not agitate or twist the fibres to retain the gorgeous softness and shape of your garment.

Shedding
Because of the roving nature of our yarns (they are single ply, rather than tightly twisted), some shedding may occur.  The best way to deal with this is spray your finished garment with water and leave to dry flat, naturally before the first wearing.  This sets the fibres and should stop any problems.  If you want any further advice just drop us a line at info@mrsmoon.co.uk

Using your yarn
All our yarn comes in skeins.  Before using you need to wind the skein into a ball or you will get into an awful tangled mess!  If you are not sure how to do this you can watch our video here!
